Meeting Minutes for April 6, 2015

Opening Prayer:  S. Kate led the group in Opening Prayer reflecting on this weekend’s gospel. 

Call to Order: President, Teresa Murphy, called the April 2015 meeting of the Women’s Guild to order.  There were 24 members in attendance. 

Vice-President’s Report:  Joan Phillips reported that 46 people attended the Communion Breakfast on 3/8/15.  Mark Quandt of the Regional Food Bank was the speaker.  Barbara Campbell was the winner of $35.00 in the 50/50.  

Treasurer’s Report:  Treasurer, Marie Celeste, reported that the beginning balance for March was $2,384.35 with an ending balance of $1,672.02.  A motion to accept the Treasurer’s report was made by Chris Urban and seconded by Fran Roscello.  S. Kate thanked the Women’s Guild for the donation made to the Irish night.  $6,000 was raised with $1,200 provided to each of the five charities.  

Secretary’s Report:  The minutes for the March meeting are available on line.  There were a number of women who did not receive the March meeting minutes by email.  The new email addresses have been added to the Women’s Guild email distribution.  If anyone would like to be added to the Women’s Guild email distribution, contact Ann Kowalczyk.

Membership Coordinator Report:  Carol Rosney reported that the Guild has 128 paid members.  The annual membership drive will be held the weekend of 5/9/15-5/10/15. 

Publicity Report:  Nicole Mestoik will continue to put information in the Bulletin as appropriate.

Committee Reports:

Altar Committee:  Teresa Murphy thanked the women who prepared the altar and chapel for the services during Easter Week.    

Hospitality Committee:  Margaret Willard reported that the Hospitality Committee prepared the St. Joseph’s table on 3/19/15.  There were about 36 people in attendance.  The Hospitality Committee will serve the Welcome Dinner on 4/21.  Jeannie Aurelia, Barb Campbell, S. Rita, Margaret Willard, Teresa Murphy and Kathy Moon volunteered to help.    

Sick and Vigil:  Marilyn Murdock reported that she sent a Get Well card to Ann Duffy.

Military:  There was no report given at this meeting. 

Garden Club:  Teresa Murphy reported that we are considering installing a new fence around the Memory Garden to keep the deer out.  Estimates will be received with the goal of having the fence installed in the spring.  The Garden Club will have a grounds clean-up 4/26/15 at noon.   

Old Business:

Easter Egg Hunt – The children’s Easter Egg Hunt was well attended.  Teresa Murphy thanked all members who participated in making this event successful. 

New Business:

Nominating Committee:  Nicole Mestoik reported that she will put a notice in the bulletin indicating that the Women’s Guild is looking for women to fill the positions of President, Vice-President and Treasurer.  The voting for officers will take place at the May meeting.    

Women’s Guild Tea – Ann Kowalczyk reported that the annual tea will be held on Saturday, 5/9/15 at noon.  S. Kate will be our speaker sharing information regarding Mother Teresa.  Ann asked for volunteers to help sell tickets after the Masses on 4/25- 4/26 and 5/2 -5/3. 

June Dinner Meeting:  The June Dinner meeting will be held at the Franklin Terrace on 6/1/15. Margaret Willard and Barbara Campbell will co-chair this event.  Sign-up sheets and additional information about the dinner will be available at the May meeting.

Chicken BBQ:  The Chicken BBQ to be held on 9/25/15 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.  Giffy’s will provide the chicken and baked potatoes.  Similar to past years, the Guild will provide the cole slaw, rolls and brownies.  The dinners will be $10.00.  Maureen Fogarty, Valerie Kurick, Veronica Borden and Ann Kowalczyk will co-chair this event. 

50/50:  $67.00 was collected in the 50/50 raffle; Mike Ciccarelli was the winner of $33.50. 

Springs Nursing Home:  $21.62 was collected for the Springs Nursing Home. 

Refreshments for the April Meeting:  Pat Sweeney and S. Kate will provide refreshments for the May meeting. 

Next Meeting:  The next meeting of the Women’s Guild will be held on Monday, May 4th at 7:00 p.m. in the Church Hall.
